Meet Rex! Nicknamed T-Rex for his ferocity and puppyness.
There's been a lot for this young pup to take in and learn, as we assume this is his first time experiencing pet life and living inside a warm home. He's loved every second of it and has proven how outgoing, friendly, cuddly, full of energy, brave, occasionally vocal and smart he is.
Rex wasted no time in letting it be known what his first true love is: food. He gets very excited for meal time, barking in his crate while you're preparing his bowl. He is learning to sit and wait for a release command to eat and he has been getting better about it.
When he's gobbled up his food, it's back to playing. He would much rather wrestle with another dog than go on a walk. Funnily enough, walks are not his favorite thing. He's in a foster home with a female dog who is a little bit older and double his size and he's obsessed with her. Rex's play style is very rough so it's important to only match him with other dogs who tolerate that well to avoid any problems arising. Roughness aside, he's been good with the dogs he's met so far.
Rex's foster home has 2 cats that he has shown too much interest in. Sometimes he will completely ignore them but when they catch his eye, he hasn't yet learnt how to play nice with felines. He's still young so establishing boundaries will likely help.
Rex came into his foster home naturally crate trained. He has settled in a crate very well from day 1 (any crying only lasts minutes usually). He sleeps crated through the night perfectly. If you need a bit of peace and quiet during the day he will nap in his crate for a few hours at a time. He has never put up a fight about going in. Rex has even been left home alone during the day in his crate and has been awesome about it.
When Rex wants to take a break from playing (which he has been better about doing on his own), he will climb onto the couch to cuddle up next to you. He loves his people and happily greets and charms everybody he meets.
Rex is highly food motivated and training has been coming along nicely. He knows how to sit and shake already and he's working hard on lie down, leave it and more. Potty training is a work in progress. He learns fast and will be a great dog if you stay committed and consistent when he's a puppy. He's at an important age to form good habits you want to see long term.
