Application Process
By completing the pre-approval adoption application, you are applying to adopt through Journey Home Animal Rescue. Once you are approved, we will work with you to find the best fit for your home and vice versa. For the best match, please let us know which pet and/or qualities you are looking for in your future pet. Applications are to become eligible to adopt from Journey Home Animal Rescue and not for a specific pet.
Step 1
Research and plan. Bringing a new pet into your family and home is extremely exciting decision. We want to help prepare you and the pet for success and make sure the decision is well thought out. Have a plan for what you will do in cases of an emergency, when you are going to vacation, and/or doing obedience classes with your newly adopted pet, etc.

Step 2
Review and agree to the Adoption Requirements (above).
We will carefully review your application, complete background checks, call veterinary references, landlords, and personal references. We contact your veterinary and personal references to ensure all current and/or deceased pets were properly taken care of, including current on all vaccinations and altered. We require all animals in the home to be either spayed or neutered and current on vaccinations. Journey Home Animal Rescue reserves the right to deny any applications that we deem unfit or unsuitable for the animal. This process can take approximately 10-14 days or more at times.
Step 3
Complete an pre-approval adoption application. If you have additional questions on specific pets, it is best to fill out an application as this will initiate communication. The pre-approval adoption application is for you to tell us about yourself, the environment your pet will be living in, and your lifestyle. We would like to know as much as we can to help ensure a good match for a successful, lifelong relationship.

Step 4
The applicant will be contacted for a home visit by an authorized Journey Home Animal Rescue representative. This is an informal opportunity for us to get to know you and answer additional questions you may have.

Step 5
After the above steps are completed and processed, you will receive an email of approval or denial. An approved application means you can adopt from Journey Home. It does not always mean you will be adopting the animal applied for.

Step 6
Adopt! After your application is approved we will arrange for you to meet the pet and if it's a good match, to adopt. Don't forget a collar, ID tag, leash, and kennel. We love hearing updates on Journey Home adopted pets and will always be available to help answer any questions, make training recommendations, and assist you in providing the forever loving home for your new pet.
